Riveting, Funny, Poignant, Inspiring
These are the words frequently used by those who hear Ric Booth speak, read, and share his heart. Each stanza of each poem cries out a message as relevant today as when the world began.
Stories start out as a pleasant carousel ride, inviting the listener into a safe adventure. Once Ric has his passengers onboard and fully engaged, the music changes and his passengers simply hold on as they discover this ride called life on planet Earth is a rollercoaster!
After all, there is no such thing as a safe adventure…
life is goodA teacher, a learner, a speaker, a listener, a dad, a son, a granddad, a grandson, a husband, a bride, a warrior, a peacemaker, a slave, alive, adopted, appalled, apart, a part, and amazed. Ric often sees God in the most unexpected places, from dryer lint to his own heart.
Ric lives in Gambrills, Maryland with his wife Patti. Although his tent-making trade is software engineering his passion is sharing stories about life with youth, young adults, men, women and all who might hear. Ric’s poems and stories take the reader and listener on a journey to the one thing, the only thing, that truly matters. You can read some of Ric’s work here.
My bride enjoying a sunset on the shores of Lake Erie (2002)
“As a child I was deathly afraid of the dark.
I would frequently hide from the dark under my covers
with my music blaring and my eyes closed.
The absurdity of it all never really sunk in–
I was hiding in the dark from the dark!
No longer afraid of the dark,
I now enjoy a healthy fear of the light.”
